I started Super Jeffrey because I wanted Super Jeffrey on my team while building my mustard company. Yup, a mustard company.
Fresh out of college, I decided to start Mustard and Co. with a buddy, and you better believe, my parents were stoked to see their son apply his degree in the condiment business. As we built Mustard and Co. into an independent regional powerhouse, we slowly built an office of colleagues. And we got lucky; they were awesome. But at the end of the day, no one wanted to do the tedious, mundane tasks that it took to keep things movin' and shakin'. Tasks like filling out new product forms for new grocery customers, or generating invoices, and even all of the back and forth with placing purchases and receiving orders. It’s not the most glamorous work, but it's sure as heck necessary. So in-between grinding (literally, mustard seed), I built what would become Super Jeffrey, our business assistant to handle these repetitive tasks.
It gets better from there. In that process, we realized that with all of the transactions Super Jeffrey was processing, whether it was Sales Orders or Purchase Orders, SJ could draw connections between these transactions in order to help us sell more mustard and waste less seed. Super Jeffrey started noticing, hey, you seem to buy mustard seed every 4 to 5 weeks. Or the local Co-op seems to need a fresh case of mustard every 2 weeks. We realized that Super Jeffrey could crunch these stats with ease - he is a computer after all. And so, we started listening to him, having him reach out to customers to replenish their shelves and sending Purchase Orders to suppliers when we needed more. It was blissful. Not only did Super Jeffrey handle the tedious paperwork entry, he was now thinking ahead for us.
As Super Jeffrey settled in, we both got a little antsy. Sharing good mustard far and wide is important work, yet we both knew his growing skills could support any business buying, making, and selling things. Super Jeffrey was, and is eager to help other independent businesses in their quest to share their obsession with others - these businesses are his motivation. So, we packed up, left Mustard and Co. in great hands, and ventured out into software. Mom, Dad, I wouldn't breathe a sigh of relief yet - there's a long road ahead.
